In reality, you probably know your fitness journey is going to take longer than you want it to, but..you want it to happen as quickly as possible too.

I totally get it, and this is definitely NOT a sexy topic, but it absolutely IS something you need to hear. I’m happy to be the one to bring this information to you!

When it comes to how I help the ladies I work with, I have so many that come to me a couple weeks into the program they're doing, and they're frustrated because they're not losing weight fast enough (that's usually how it goes). They're not making the progress that they thought they would see, at the speed that they would see it happen. That comes from a few different reasons, and I think mainly due to the standards out there that have been set by the health and fitness industry.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about:

  • Why you feel like you need to see results right away (insert instant gratification) and feel like you’re failing if you don’t. It's so easy for us to get stuck in comparison mode, as we're seeing what our families and friends are doing. Maybe they're doing Weight Watchers, cutting carbs, cutting calories, doing keto, etc.-they're just seeing certain results faster with whatever 'diet' they're doing. It's frustrating for us when we think we can do the same thing they're doing and see certain results in the same amount of time, but that's just not how it works (or how it needs to be).
  • What it looks like as you begin to reprogram your way of thinking about what you’ve learned from the health and fitness industry (like quick fixes don’t work long-term!)
  • Reasons why your fitness journey is going to take longer than you want it to. Going back to you doing the same program your friend is doing, your results are just not going to be the same, because your starting place is different! That ultimately means your results will be different. Make sure you're working with someone you understand and trust to help you reach your goals, so you CAN get out of the ugly cycle you've been in.
  • Considering everything you have done to your body, as far as how you’ve treated it, what you’ve put into it, etc., and how your body responds in return. We've been encouraged to cut calories, cut fat, cut carbs, weigh everything, eat as little as possible, take all the supplements, and on, and on, and on. It makes me so mad, and honestly, really pisses me off. It's just not necessary to see lifelong results that you're wanting to, and feel your best from the inside out.

Why it's not a negative thing that your fitness journey is going to take longer than you want it to.

I know it can be frustrating to not see results right away when you’re working hard, but you also have to think about everything you’ve done to your body before, because it all matters! Until you make the choice to do something that is going to work for your long-term health and fitness goals, you will stay stuck in the ugly dieting cycle-plain and simple.

I always want to show up as my most authentic self, and sometimes that means sharing the stuff people don’t want to hear (but NEED to). You don’t need to give up or beat yourself up over what you’ve done. I do want you to gain awareness and understand that your body is something beautiful, cherished, and should be protected, no matter what!
