Why you need to stop waiting for motivation on your fitness journey

It’s time for a little tough love in true Kristy Castillo style today, and we’re talking all things motivation! This is the thing you feel like you have to ‘wait for’ or you ‘don’t have’, so you can’t do something..sound familiar? 

Honestly, I was really struggling this week, and had to have some important conversations with people in my life. I talked to my husband and some other coaches in this space, mainly about what I was thinking regarding this episode. I talked to my clients about what they were going through and experiencing when it comes to motivation, and it really inspired me! 

A lot of times, certain topics in the health and fitness space can be somewhat redundant, and be pretty surface level; it can come across as bullshit, and to me, that's just not very helpful. I like to dig deeper, and really figure out what's going on (which is no different with how I'm sharing about motivation today).

I think we’ve all struggled with feeling motivated when it comes to a LOT of things over the last few years (I know I sure have), but it’s not something I really pay attention to anymore either. Whether motivation is something you struggle with often or not, I know you’ll benefit from what I’m sharing today.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about:

  • Why motivation (especially ‘waiting for it’) is a complete waste of time when it comes to your fitness
  • What it looks like when you choose to blame motivation for not making certain choices on your fitness journey (ex. You’re choosing to stay the same and not change your situation for the better)
  • Why you need to find workouts you don’t absolutely dread and actually enjoy doing, and make a commitment to doing them

If you're not comfortable with where you are, you need to stop waiting for motivation on your fitness journey, and decide to make the choices that will change your life for the better.

A quote I heard recently that really resonated with me was “People don’t change until staying the same is more painful than changing”. I mean..how powerful, right?! It really put things into perspective for me, and I hope it does for you too. It really all comes down to you making a choice; you have to decide if you want to stay in the current version of yourself, or if you’re willing to change and do the hard things, even if you’re ‘unmotivated’. 

I’ve learned to never ask myself if I’m motivated or not to do something-I just choose to do it, and get on with my day. Motivation is just a feeling, so it will come and go. I think deep down you know that, but you still feel like you still need to wait for it, and something is ‘wrong’ with you if you’re not always feeling motivated to do something. 

It’s more about showing up for yourself, making the choices that aren’t always easy to make, and staying committed to your journey, because you ARE worth doing so!
