Why you don't need to obsessively track your macros to see results

If you know me well at all (unless this is your very first time here, and if it is, thank you for being here!), you probably know I love macro tracking. It’s something I personally do and live by, and it’s a major part of how I work with and coach my ladies too. I've also learned the importance of 'loosely' tracking my macros over the years; I've now know plenty of reasons why you don't need to obsessively track your macros to see results!

Normally, about 99% of the clients I work with start getting a good handle on their workouts about 2 weeks in. They're kicking ass with the workouts, but they're struggling with the nutrition aspect. Either they're struggling with hitting or tracking their macros, or just really understanding the concept of macros in general, and that's totally fine.

I don't like to bombard my clients all at once, so I let them get familiar with me, the workouts and the workout app, etc. Then, we'll move into the nutrition component because that usually is the toughest part of our fitness.

Tracking macros really is a phenomenal way to learn more about your particular body, fitness, and overall health journey, and the flexibility of tracking macros is one of my favorite parts.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about:

  • How I first help my clients with their nutrition and taking things one step at a time. Like I mentioned above, I want my clients to get familiar with the workouts and app first, and then we will move into tackling the nutrition aspect. Consistency is key when it comes to all of this, and trying to do everything perfectly at once is overwhelming, and just not necessary.
  • What calories and macros actually are, and how they’re connected to help your body function properly
  • Why ‘loosely’ tracking and not obsessing with your macros will still get you positive results
  • 4 ways to help you not be obsessive when it comes to your macros and nutrition. 1. Macros should not be followed to the ‘extreme’ every single day-just aim to get close, because your body fluctuates all of the time anyway. 2. It helps with longevity, aka, you can actually enjoy the process. 3. It’s not necessary to be obsessive-you really just need to chill out (I mean that in the realest, and most loving tone!) 4. It helps you with food freedom, and you don't have to view food as 'good' and 'bad' anymore, which is amazing!

You don't need to obsessively track your macros to see results, no matter what your health and fitness goals are.

I want you to really understand why you’re tracking macros, doing certain workouts, drinking your water, etc., because then you can trust the process, and know it will all work together for you. You don’t have to keep looking for quick fixes and the next ‘fad diet’, and you don’t need to strive for perfectionism either. Doing this is not attainable, and so not necessary either-life is meant to be lived, and enjoyed after all!

It’s totally possible for you to feel confident, knowledgeable, and see success with your health and fitness long-term without obsessing over every little thing-I promise!
