When you’re first starting on your health and fitness journey, you may be excited about meal prepping, planning out your food and workouts, and all of the things. While that’s not a bad thing at all, you sometimes forget to plan around everything else that’s already going on in your life too. Sound familiar?
You have plenty of other things in your life, like your children, your spouse, your job-there are so many things! This doesn't just have to become about our health and fitness journey-we have so much more going on than just that.
Where I used to go wrong when trying to set myself up for a successful week with my health & fitness.
Once we commit to a health and fitness journey, we still have to plan for other events in life. Honestly, I think that's where I went wrong so often before, and so do a lot of my clients; that's it's vital to talk about all of this as a whole. Once you start to fit it all in as a whole and realize that your health and fitness journey and your life have to coincide, this becomes a lot easier.
You absolutely CAN commit to your health and fitness journey, and still have that fit seamlessly and successfully with the other parts of your life! You just have to plan accordingly, and that’s exactly what I want to chat with you about today.
In today’s episode, I’m talking about:
- Understanding WHY you want to have a successful week, and realizing it’s okay if things don’t always go according to plan (or just plain fall apart)
- The importance of setting up a successful week that is realistic for YOU
- 2 things to do, whether you’re a first-time planner or you’re just needing a fresh start
- 4 tips to implement when you’re planning your week
Once you realize what your successful (and realistic) week looks like, figured out your specific goals and what's not serving you right now (what needs to change), and you've put into practice the 4 tips when you're planning out your week, you have to actually execute, and follow through!
I used to spend SO much time planning and prepping for the week ahead, and then when it came down to it, I didn't even want to eat the food I prepared, or do the workouts I was supposed to do, because they were boring to me, and I wasn't looking forward to any of it. It doesn't feel good when this happens, so make sure you really can do these things you're planning to do, and if you can't do all of it, just start slower.
How you set yourself up for a successful week with your health & fitness has to work for you-period.
Everyone’s versions of ‘success’ are different, and no one’s week will look exactly like someone else’s, which is totally fine! Honestly, I’ve learned to give myself a lot more grace over the years, and really transition out of the perfection mindset that I was in for so long.
Your successful week may look like you pushing hard and hitting a lot of different goals right now, and it also may look like you being a little looser with your meals and workouts, and just relaxing and taking things a bit easier. Again, neither of these are right or wrong-it just depends on what you are striving for in your season of life right now.
Whatever season of life you’re in, just know that it’s okay if some weeks are better than others. Once you find a routine that works well for you, and you’re able to sync up your life and your fitness (and not keep them as 2 totally separate things), it will all flow together so well!
