Life can be crazy, and busy, and some seasons are just tougher than others. I know I’ve been feeling like this recently, and I bet you have at some time or another too. While life can knock us down and we can get off track with our health and fitness goals, we don’t have to stay there. I’ve learned what works when it comes to staying consistent (not perfect) with my fitness journey over the years, and I want to share these simple tips with you.
So many women that I talk to (so many of them being my clients) will miss a week or so of workouts, and I'll check in and say like, "Hey, where have you been"? The first thing they say is like, "Oh, you know, life just got really hard", and they'll give me an example of what's going on in their life. They just haven't had time to work out (or made time), and they've just kind of fallen off track.
I've honestly gone through this myself, and it's hard to make time when your life is falling down around you. You're just honestly so busy, and those workouts can be the first thing that you take off your plate for whatever reason.
I want this to be a lifestyle for you, but in order for it to be a lifestyle and in order for your workouts to be something that you honestly never give up or push to the side, there has to be some things that you change mentally, in order for you to be able do that. It takes time, but I've done it myself, and I've seen my clients do it too, and I know this information is going to help you so much!
In today’s episode, I’m talking about 6 tips you can do to keep going on your fitness journey when life gets tough, which are:
- Expect there to be challenges along the way (things will never be perfect, so choose to slow down instead of quit
- Look at your workouts as "I get to work out" instead of "I have to work out"
- Having habits and a set routine in place is vital
- Your fitness journey and goals are NOT optional
- The importance of having a plan so you can pick up where you left off, instead of feeling completely lost
- Have some accountability (coach, trainer, family member, friend, etc.)
I know these 6 tips tips can change the game for you. All of my successful ladies implement these tips, and I'm telling you, they are gold-they're also not super complicated! It really is so important that you're doing workouts that you enjoy, as well in a format that you enjoy, and with coach that you enjoy.
Some days, weeks, and even months will be hard, and just downright suck honestly, and that’s okay! If you choose to implement these tips, and stay consistent with your goals for the long-term, you won’t have to keep stopping and starting over completely.
There will be days you don't want to work out, or show up for yourself at all on your health and fitness journey. When you stick with it, and keep the promise to yourself, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish, and you'll be so proud too! If you choose to show up and make yourself a priority on the days you really don't want to, that's when things will change for you, and you'll know you really can do this forever (not just during a 3 week or 6 week challenge).
I love being able to encourage and cheer my ladies on through the hard times, and let them know it’s okay to have ups and downs on this journey (I have them too after all). If you need someone in your corner to help you push through the tough stuff, I’m happy to do that, and more!
