When it comes to getting healthy, I know you want to look and feel better, and make a lifestyle change-I hear this from my clients all of the time, which is amazing! Unfortunately, the majority of the ladies I talk with tend to have unrealistic body standards for themselves too-especially when it comes to the timeframe it takes to achieve their goals. So often, we’re unable to accept our bodies and make positive progress because we’re holding ourselves to these unhealthy (and actually toxic) standards.

We're probably not even aware that we're doing it, and if we are, I think it's become so normalized to do so that we don't even think that it's bad. We don't think that it's toxic or harmful when it is.

I want to give you some questions to think about, in hopes that you can start to realize that the standards you've set for yourself possibly are not even standards that you want to have set for yourself. Maybe they have come from friends, or you've taken them on from other situations, like social media, commercials, etc., but being aware of that is I think the first step to really loving and honoring ourselves, and really pushing towards the right goals and doing that in a healthy, realistic way.

In today's episode, I'm talking about 4 questions you need to ask yourself about your unrealistic body standards, which are:

  • Are your standards too high?
  • Are you holding yourself to someone else's standard?
  • Do you hold yourself to an unattainable standard?
  • Are you holding yourself to an 'old' or 'previous' standard of yourself?

I’ve had to ask myself these questions, and be brutally honest about my own body standards. I’ve learned it’s about so much more than looking a certain way, and being a certain size; I get to see a similar transformation with my clients, once we start working together too. Once you learn to focus on your unique goals, and you start feeling healthier (from the inside out), stronger, and more confident, everything will start to fall into place, and the lifestyle change WILL happen!
