Have you ever thought you wish you could be more motivated when it comes to your health and fitness? I get asked all of the time about motivation, and how I stay so motivated, what motivates me, etc. The last thing I want you to think is that I’m always motivated, because I’m definitely not! I know it can “look” like someone is always motivated when you see them on social media (I used to think this when seeing certain people too), but that’s just not the case, because it’s such a small glimpse into their life.
We are looking at other people, assuming things, assuming they're a go getter, they have a plan, are confident, and they're motivated. Maybe none of those things are true though. First of all, we need to keep that in check and realize that every human is just a human, they are not always motivated. They do not always want to do 'the thing'. We have to work on stopping the comparison game altogether, because I think it would help a lot.
We just have to figure out how to keep pushing forward, regardless of the motivation that we may or may not have, and this has to be lifelong. This has to be a lifestyle where you can take the actions, whether you feel like it or not, because, point blank-the basis of the story is if you want to change something, you're going to actually have to change something!
In today’s episode, I’m sharing 5 tips to help you stay motivated with your fitness, which are:
-
Stop relying on your emotions
-
Find movement you actually enjoy doing (swimming, running, walking, biking, etc.)
-
Find people you connect with and who actually support you on your journey
-
Focus on what you want most, not what you want right now
-
Make the decision to just do it
it's also extremely important to actually be following a plan, because this takes so much guesswork out, and you know exactly what you need to be doing. You don't have to continue spending time Googling and guessing how much time you should be working out, what protein shake is best for you, more about keto and intermittent fasting, etc.
At the end of the day, you’re not always going to be motivated-it’s as simple as that. However, I truly believe motivation (not perfection) is something that is achievable for everyone, once you have the right plan in place, and you start seeing results. Finding the right person in your corner to teach and guide you is key; I love getting to do this for my ladies, and I’m happy to help you find and keep motivation when it comes to your health and fitness too!
