Podcast-ep. #12: Why you need to adopt a lifelong mentality with your fitness

Have you ever started a new workout program or a 30 day challenge, and you were only thinking about the results you would get during that time? You probably weren’t considering what would happen after you stopped that particular program or challenge, because you were stuck in that ‘quick fix’ mindset. This used to be me, and I stayed in that ugly cycle for years! Fortunately, I’ve been able to change my way of thinking, and I now have a long-term mindset with my fitness.

One of the biggest takeaways for me and my own journey over the last year was that my mental, emotional. and physical state are so closely tied together, and I realized that if I was neglecting one or two of those things, then my fitness would be off. The reason I was neglecting them is because I wasn't looking at this as long-term, and I just wanted quick results.

I'm sure you've felt this way too, but changing your mentality and realizing your fitness is a lifelong journey is huge. You won't feel like you have to keep doing these flashy, quick-fix things and feel like a failure when they don't work. It will become less stressful, and even more fun and enjoyable. If you're a person who wants to be healthy and fit for the rest of your life, you will have to make fitness a priority for the rest of your life-plain and simple.

In today's episode, I'm covering:

  • My own story of trying various workout programs and nutrition plans that were not sustainable for me (and I hated doing)
  • How you can change your mentality with your fitness and learn to view it as not only something that can be done forever (you can finally escape the quick-fix mindset), but also fun and enjoyable
  • Why making your health and fitness a priority does not need to be stressful (and why it never should be), and how you can focus on things that actually matter

I'm not the kind of coach or personal trainer who's going to give you really low macros and really hard workouts. I won't be expecting you to "crush some goals" instantly! I'm more about teaching you the things that matter, which are hitting your macros (aka fueling your body), getting in the right kind of workouts, four to five workouts a week (like weightlifting or some sort of HIIT, get to your body in the right place) help you regulate your metabolism and your hormones, drinking enough water, etc., and doing this all consistently. These things matter across the board, but they can sound foreign to someone who is just starting out, or has no idea what all of this means, and that's okay!

I want to make sure you understand that making your fitness a priority is NOT a bad thing, or an obsessive thing. When you’re focusing on the right things, they just start to become second nature, and fall into place. You’re able to gain confidence and control back, and you aren’t stressing about every little thing with your health and fitness anymore. It’s truly a beautiful thing, and something I’m happy to help you with if you need help getting started!
