A change of season is upon us-yes, fall is here! This usually means a change of pace for most of us, at least in some way. While change can be difficult (it definitely is for me at times), we have to be willing to adjust in our lives, and this is no different when it comes to our fitness journey.

I personally would rather not change if I don't have to (I also really love summer time, sunshine, warm weather, etc.), so I struggle when I know fall and winter are coming, and things are going to get a lot colder. I've learned that something a lot of people don't account for in their fitness journey is finding a plan and routine that can change and still work all throughout your life. This took me awhile to figure out, especially when my kids were younger. I was used to their schedules and the events they had going on, and as they've gotten older, life has only gotten busier and crazier (it never slows down, haha).

I want your fitness, nutrition, and all of your healthy habits to have a place in your life ALL the time (not just certain seasons), so I’m excited to share with you my best workout tips and ideas as we transition into a new season.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about:

  • The ugly cycle of dieting + overeating I used to get stuck in, as well as the ladies who come to me before we start working together
  • Why the season of fall is a great time to figure out your ideal workouts and nutrition with the holiday season right around the corner
  • Understanding what a calorie deficit, calorie maintenance, and calorie surplus can look like in the different seasons throughout the year
  • My top 3 workout tips as you transition into a new season. I want you to first think about how this new season (and all of the activities that go along with it) will affect your workouts, I want you to adjust accordingly to how your life is changing in this new season (I'll share more ideas on that below), and lastly, I want you to make sure you have some kind of accountability along the way.

Simple ways you can adjust your workouts as you head into a new season.

First, I want you to give yourself time AND grace as you're making the transition into a new season-you don't have to change and have everything set up perfectly right away! Start adding in more cardio in some way (walking, jogging, biking, swimming, cycling, etc.) if you're used to getting in more movement and you now won't be able to as much.

You can change up the time of day you're working out, and even consider changing the duration and/or length of your workouts. Lastly, consider how your meals might be changing as you head into a new season (you may be eating more fall soups and stews, casseroles, etc.), so make sure and account for that along the way.

This time of year is a wonderful opportunity for you to be able to take advantage of your health and fitness goals; you can really figure out what works well for you, and set the tone for the winter, and the New Year. Ultimately, I want you to find a fitness routine that not only gets you results, but fits into your everyday life seamlessly, all throughout the year!
