Dealing with self-sabotage and self-limiting beliefs on your fitness journey

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to self-sabotage and self-limiting beliefs, I resonate with both of these SO much. They used to come up for me all of the time, and actually, they still do quite a bit.

I get frustrated because I begin making excuses for myself, and I honestly don't know why I'm doing that. It all comes back to self-limiting beliefs; the excuses we're making are just our way of self-sabotage (I'll get into more of that soon).

No matter what you've gone through in life or where you are now with your health and fitness journey, I think we’ve all struggled with this topic in different ways, and I’m excited to dive into it more here.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about:

  • The excuses you’re using that are actually covering up your self-sabotage and self-limiting beliefs with your health and fitness journey. I tend to hear things like "I'm too busy", "I'm too tired", "I'm not motivated", "I don't have the energy you do", or "I don't know what workouts to do". While all of these are legitimate reasons, they're also a bunch of bullshit, and are usually covering up something deeper underneath (which is what I help my clients dig into and find out what's really going on).
  • How self-limiting beliefs (like perfectionism and self-sabotage) can play a major role when it comes to going after and achieving your goals. Perfectionism is something I used to REALLY struggle with-especially when it came to my fitness journey- but fortunately, I learned how to overcome that belief, and so can you.
  • How my coaching style is different (and actually works) when I’m helping my clients. I'm an empath (which I think helps to make me a really good listener), and I've also experienced so many of the struggles my clients have/are currently going through. I genuinely love helping people, and getting to do this work truly lights me up!
  • 2 ways that can help you work through your self-limiting beliefs. First, I want you to document your thoughts (I personally love journaling), and really ask yourself "whose beliefs are you taking on?" It may be from someone you've been listening to your whole life, but it doesn't mean it's accurate (or you need to believe it). Secondly, I want you to take this one step at a time, and pick only ONE thing to focus on. I also recommend you work with someone you trust, will really hold you accountable, and they actually know what they're doing when you're doing this work.

Dealing with self-limiting beliefs on your fitness journey is something you have to do if you have goals you're working on.

I know this episode went pretty deep, but at the end of the day, I want you to realize that your excuses are really just a cover for your self-limiting beliefs. Until you decide to dig into the core of yourself, uncover those self-limiting beliefs and stop using them as a crutch, you won’t take action on the things you really want (and need) to.

You ARE worthy of focusing on and improving your health and fitness if you want to. You already are enough, and you have what it takes to make it happen!
